Tips for Safe Seal Viewing
- The best views are from the bluff at the vista point. Look for a volunteer guide to assist you.
- Dogs must be kept on leash.
- Marine mammals are protected by federal law. It is against the law for unauthorized people to touch or disturb them in any way. This law protects both the elephant seals - and humans!
- Park only in designated parking spaces, not on the highway shoulder.
- Do not attempt to place adults or children (especially small children!) next to the elephant seals for photos! Remember: The elephant seals are (very large!) wild animals, and should be treated as such.
